Plumbing questions without the runaround
A dripping hose bib, a pipe offset, or a drain that will not fall. Start with the shutoff, then the fitting in your hand.
- Find the shutoff and prove the line is dead before you open a fitting.
- See where the water actually comes from: handle, spout, or joint.
- For an offset, use the pipe calculator. Fitting takeoff is extra.
- If you smell gas, get people out and call the utility. Do not hunt for it with a flame.
Common questions
Can I add water to make a fitting easier?
Not on a pressurized line, and not if you cannot shut it off. Stop and get a plumber.
Does Davina size drains?
It explains grade and vents. The adopted plumbing code sets the sizes.
