Can Davina approve a weld?
No. Inspection and the procedure do that.

Match the process and the filler to the metal and the procedure you were given. A pretty bead on dirty steel is still a bad weld.
- Read the weld procedure and the drawing before you strike an arc.
- Clean the joint. Confirm the filler.
- Set a fire watch and a clear area when the site requires hot work.
- Do not repair a structural member with a field plate unless the engineer says so.

Stop and follow the drawing. Snug is not the same as the tension the connection calls for.
